GW3 REVIEW – ALWAYS LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF LIFE

WELCOME TO THE

GW3 REVIEW –

ALWAYS LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF LIFE

Hello there!

It’s truly been a whirlwind start to the new season. Two GWs, in which every team has made their long awaited and emotional return to their home grounds, now in GW3 it was time for the season to settle down.

But even before the ball was kicked and FPL teams locked in for the latest game week rollercoaster, the footballing world was stunned in to the home coming of one the great wingers of our generation. A true hero of the mid 2010s and FPL royalty. The FFUK world of activity was non stop, true disbelief and grown men turning into giddy school boys once again.

A big FFUK welcome back to Aaron Lennon, who re-joined Burnley and has an FPL price of (£5.0M and 0.0% ownership), question now is how do you fit him in?

On to the real stuff. From the offset, GW3 felt like it was back to true FPL business and the picks suddenly felt more difficult. The introduction of Lukaku, the return of Kane, plus the form of DCL and Antonio, meant the template teams many succeeded with in GW1, was now starting to alter. A perfect example was the spread of captains picked for GW3 in FFUK, after 71% picked Salah in GW2, 35% went for the Ant man, 24% on Bruno, while 10% opted for Son as their captain. Mr Chip made 16 appearances this week, one punter, Steve Barnard (237th) triple captaining Mings, who ended up being out injured! (unfortunately for Steve his VC was Pogba which meant just 6 points acrrued with that TC chip), Check out Statto Steve Cronin’s captaincy and chip stats below for GW3:

Before we get to it let’s see the Kings of GW3:

The GW kicked off with Pep not rouletting and picking an unchanged line up, against a very much unchanged Arsenal. Less said about the Gunners the better, I’m in therapy and I’ve been told avoiding the subject entirely is for the best! (Which is exactly the same approach Rob Holding took when defending on Saturday… 🙈 ). 5-0 City; Gundog, Grealish and Torres amongst the points haul.

Elsewhere saw goals for Buendia (before heading off on international duty and thus missing GW4 along with Martinez, Le Celso and Romero). Antonio, Greenwood, Son, Vardy and DCL amongst the goals yet again, with the latter having to argue with Richarlison to take the pen. Kids hey?!

Only 4 clean sheets this week, Tottenham taking note of their neighbours 90s style, with another 1-0 win, while City, Everton and United completing the shut outs.

The big game of the weekend saw Liverpool face Chelsea in the Saturday early evening kick off. Havertz header cancelled out by Salah’s penalty, after GW2 hero Reece James was sent off for handling the ball on the line. Chelsea very much passing the defensive eye test once again.

GW3 top 3 haulers were Torres with 18, Connor Gallagher with 15, getting Palace off the mark with two goals in a 2-2 draw, and Jesus, Varane and Vardy coming home with a very respective 12 points each.

Here’s a couple of stat bombs for your troubles:

As we head into the much needed International week, (2 weeks in which Arsenal can’t lose, well on the pitch anyway!), how many FFUKers are going to hit the wildcard button? This really could be a good time, with 3 weeks’ worth of data banked but what about the quarantine conundrum? When will we know who’s self isolating or not?? Big questions ahead of GW4.

Tops of the FFUK league and therefore out 1st Manager of the month for August was Tim McEwan, with a solid 268 points! Congratulations!🏆

Check out the top 20 as it stands below:

Top scoring FFUKer from GW3 was Paul Tate (151st) with 85 points, great work Paul! (Good luck with those flags next week!)🎉

But this game can’t always be about glory as we bid farewell to two more from our Conts league, this week we wave adios to Mikel Arteta… wishful thinking eh?, but seriously all the best for the rest of the season but you weren’t very good this week, Paul Reid (33 points) and Rob Marriott (34 points) the admin will remove you before the next deadline. 👋🏽

Have a great international break, see you all in GW4!

Ameet

Ps. Ronaldo’s back. 12.5m forward.
