Below is a glossary of terms that we use regularly in the group. This is handy for all of us but for any newcomers to the group it will introduce you to lots of emojis and acronyms that we regularly use. So if you are searching for answers to questions like “Why do they keep posting a horse emoji?” then you are in the right place.
THE GAME
First lets turn our attention to to FPL itself and a few abbreviations that may be useful, some of these are more prevalent than others:
- Ass = Assist
- NAG or 🐴 or 🐎 = No Assist Given
- WGTA= Who got the assist?
- GW = Gameweek eg. GW1
- DGW = Double Gameweek eg. DGW37
- TC = Triple Captain Chip
- BB = Bench Boost Chip
- FH = Free Hit
- FT = Free Transfer
- WC = Wildcard
- CS = clean sheet
- OOP = Out of Position
- POO = Reverse Out of Position
- 🧤 = Save as in good save/big save
- 🍟 = chip
- 📺👁️ = VAR
THE PLAYERS
This game is all about the players and some of them are harder to say than others. Therefore we have abbreviated many of them. In alphabetical order:
- AWB = Aaron Wan Bissaka aka The Special Wan (Wham)
- BDB = Big Dan Burn (Newcastle)
- BDCR = Bobby Decordova Reid (Fulham)
- BJ = Brennan Johnson (Spurs)
- CHO = Callum Hudson Odoi (Forest)
- DCL = Dominic Calvert Lewin (Everton)
- ESR = Emile Smith Rowe (Fulham)
- JP = Joao Pedro (Chelsea)
- JSL = Jorge Strand Larsen (Wolves)
- JSP = Jahmal Simpson Pusey (Man City)
- JWP = James Ward Prowse (Wham)
- KDH = Kiernan Dewsbury Hall (Chelsea)
- KLP = Keane Lewis Potter (Brentford)
- MGW = Morgan Gibbs White (Forest)
- MLS = Myles Lewis Skelly (Arsenal)
- RAN = Ryan Ait Nouri (Man City)
- VDB = Van Den Berg (Brentford)
- VDV = Van de Ven (Spurs)
- VVD = Virgil Van Dijk (Liverpool)
For some players we can just use Emojis:

- 🔫 🐶 = Gundogan (Man City)
- ⛑️ = Doc aka Doherty (Wolves)
- 🍾 = Jack Cork (Bournemouth)
- 🚶♂️= Walker (Burnley)
- 🥗 = Salah aka Mo (Liverpool)
- 💷 = Sterling aka Raz
- 🙏 = Jesus (Arsenal)
- 🥃 = Jack Grealish (Everton)
- ⚡= Anthony “Flash” Gordon (Newcastle)
- 🏹 = Bowen (Wham)
- 🍫=Mbeumo AKA Kinder (Man Utd)
- 🥊=Bruno (Man Utd or Newcastle)
- 🥶= Cole (Cold) Palmer (Chelsea)
- 🪵= Chris Wood (Forest)
- U🐶 = Udogie (Spurs)
- ⛰️ = Mount (Man Utd)
- 💨= Gusto (Chelsea)
- 💷 = Cash (Villa)
- 🍚= Rice (Arsenal)
- 🪓= Timber (Arsenal)
- 👶🦌= Reijnders AKA Baby Reindeer (Man City)
- 👞👞 = Gudmonson AKA Goody Two Shoes (Leeds)
- 🌭= Wirtz or Wurst/Sausage (Liverpool)
Then it gets even more random. Some players its obvious, some less so:
- 40 = Winks AKA 😉
- Bavies = Ben Davies
- Bilva = Bernardo Silva
- YES = Ndidi
- Strand – Strand Larsen AKA JSL
