“Darwin…. Nunez, Saviour of the Reds” – Scores and assisting… hear the crowd listen.
Hello everyone and welcome to the GW3 Review – there was only one song I could pick after the unbelievable game on Sunday. This song has been sampled by Nathan Dawe x Ella Henderson – 21 Reasons, but I prefer the original from Rubene RK “Calabria” way back in 2003. I’m also hoping to put a little earworm inside you with the words “Darwin…Nunez….Saviour of the reds” every time you hear the Saxophone hook. I was so overwhelmed with the last 10 mins of the game that I forgot that I was on just 34 points.
Anyway, enough about the mighty reds and on to the review! It was a GW dominated by a Haaland captaincy bandwagon with 91% of FFUKERS (204 captains out of 224 players!) – what could go wrong? He’s on form, he’s on pens, he’s a Norwegian Meat Shield…
Friday night’s fixture – Chelsea 3 v Luton 0 – had many FFUKers on on cloud 9 with a Sterling (19) brace and an assist and also Gusto (14) picking up an assist and clean sheet – Jackson (7) off the Mark for the Blues. I must say Raheem looks back to his best (Brendan Rodgers LFC Direct Raheem!) and will be someone that I regretted not putting in this week ( I went for Diaz who was subbed off early for 1 point!) “FML-FFUK YOU!” were the words I greeted that substitution with!
Spurs looked comfortable against relegation probables Bournemouth with a 2-0 win on the road. How are Spurs going to fare this year without the World Class Bundesliga God? Kulusevski (8) with a goal and a first goal for James Maddison(10). One to watch is Destiny Udogie(12).
Arsenal 2 v Fulham 2 was a cracker of a game – the reliable Saka (8) scored. Arteta chose to drop Eddie Nketiah (5) and change formation but this didn’t quite work out to plan. Palhinha (10) looks good value and perhaps the subject of a Transfer Window bid in the next few days.
Brentford 1 v Palace 1 – Joachim Anderson (11) with a goal and maximum bonus was a surprise bonus for those owners who had him!
Everton made their worst start to a premier league campaign with a third successive loss to Wolves (0-1) with Jose Sa (11) top scoring.
Man U escaped after a going 2-0 down early on to a rampant Forest side to come back and win 3-2. Cracks clearly showing in the Utd squad and a list of injuries will surely have the Glazers dipping in to their pockets and rewarding the loyal Utd fans with a flagship new signing before the deadline. Bruno Fernandes (12) showing why he’s still good value for money.
Surprise result of Saturday was West Ham beating Brighton 3-1 away. JWP (6) with a goal but top points went to Bowen (12).
Villa made light work of a hard working Burnley team and picked up another win to go top of the league temporarily. The once forgotten Matt Cash (17) top scored after netting twice.
Sheffield Utd hosted Man City and 204 FFUKers reached for their popcorn to see how many Haaland would score….Well FFUK My Life, he only missed a penalty – he is Human! The Meat shield turned in to a Pastrami on a rich tea and only managed a measly 4 points – devastating for so many. Those with the differential captain instantly gaining ground on all those disappointed owners! Anyone taking him out? Rodrigo (10) looks better than ever in a city shirt, his form over the last 12 months has been immense. At £5.7M he is becoming the new “city essential” Shirley?
Game of the week was the late afternoon fixture of Newcastle v Liverpool – what a bloody game – what a bloody finish! I was reaching for the Valium after 70 minutes and wondered if there was any hope after what can only be described as a car crash from Trent and VVD. Newcastle scored through scouser Anthony Gordon (10) after a gift from Trent. Newcastle didn’t make the Reds pay and squandered chance after chance. With 10 mins to go, Klopp turned to his 5th choice striker Darwin Nunez (11) who simply blasted away the Geordies with two super strikes turning the travelling fans wild and making me drop my Valium and Neat Gin. Absolute bedlam in many households as the Reds secured all 3 points playing with 10 men for over 80 minutes.
Now on to some of the new format features – which you will see more of in the reviews this year.

The Top 20!

Best GW Score was 77 from James Downie (12th) – a low scoring week where the average was 51. I don’t think this will challenge for a best GW score at the end of the season but well done indeed James. You can see all the best GW scores here
Manager of the month is Mark Tarbox and Stu Newton, both tied on 210 points, they also share the same top spot and overall rank which means they share the MOTM pot for August. Check out the MOTM page here

CONTS eviction this week is the unfortunate Marcus Halford who amassed a dismal 27 points, so unless he was a Liverpool fan, this GW will hopefully be forgotten very quickly. Best of luck for the rest of the season Marcus. Lucky Phil Richards and Pete “serial FFUK’er” Cronin survive by a point!
Check out the CONTS page to see the confirmed eviction plan for this season
Thanks for reading – I will leave you with this…
