GW5 REVIEW – What a beautiful day

Hello FFUKers!

Welcome to the GW5 review, a game week many of us will hope to forget and move on from asap. Only a quarter of the league, 62 FFUKers, exceeded the main game safety score of 49.

I’ll begin with this graphic, which says a lot about what happened to all our teams. There was a collective fail for many of us, particularly the 30 FFUKers who captained SON (2pts), or the 16 who captained MADDISON (1pt). Well done to the 13 FFUKers that kept faith with SALAH (10pts) – only 38% owned in FFUK, does this count as a differential?

Apart from Arsenal finally getting a win away at Goodison Park, the stand out result for me in GW5 was Brighton’s 3-1 demolition of Man Utd. With 56% possession, 80% of their shots on target and an xG of 1.84 they more then deserved their win. Roberto De Zerbi is continuing to do a fantastic job and when you consider their starting team cost £16.2m in transfer fees, I stopped counting United’s when it went past £300m!

So in homage to Brighton, a team playing league 2 football in 2009 and having to share a ground with Gillingham, the GW song choice is from one of Brighton’s finest The Levellers – What a Beautiful Day.

What a beautiful day (hey hey)
I’m the king of all time
And nothing is impossible
In my all powerful mind

Starting with the Kings of the Game Week. Well done if you had any of these players. Annoyingly I wild carded this week and took out ALVAREZ (9) for WATKINS (5). Could have been worse but now I’m considering transferring him back in. Apart from BOTMAN (9), I’m not sure how many of the below will be popular picks.

Manager of the week was Steven Parsons 9th, top scoring this week with 66pts despite a SON (2) captain fail and moving up 45 places smashing into the main FFUK Top 20.

A shout out also to Connor Parkes 10th (+28), John Harper 14th (+30), Helen Cronin 16th (+36), Dave Cull 18th (+40), Stephen Smith 19th (+36) and Jamie Cooper 20th (+34).

But leading the League is Jason Beal on 354pts, with Mark Tarbox (340pts) and Rob Scott (335pts) making up the top 3.

And at the other end of the table, we have our Hall of Shame. Duncan Galloway (224th) used his wild card but only scored 37pts with Jackson (1), Bowen (2), Sterling (2), Foden (2), Ruben (2), Romero (2) and Chilwell (0) all failing. Keep your chin up, that’s a decent team on paper.

Below is the FFUK Bandwagon (transfers In/Out) and the FFUK Template Team in GW5. It shows once again why so many of us scored poorly. I have 5 template players, how many do you have?

And finally onto the Conts, and another eviction.

This week David McWaters is evicted, amassing a mere 24pts. David could rue picking FLEKKEN (1) over AREOLA (4) but being in 43rd place in the main FFUK league, you can now focus on winning the league!

Here’s to GW 6 but a word of caution. ALVAREZ is looking like being the most transferred in… and every player most transferred in has failed that game week!

Good luck.

James Simpson – Southcoast Gunner XI (7th)
