Our fearful trip is done.
So, it finally happened, the GW where Haaland was not the top FFUK captain pick!! It was a win for the people, rage against the machine and a much-needed break from the norm.
FFUK chips:
Ignoring the ‘most transferred in player curse’ and the wise words of Mahatma Gandhi, HM Son was the top FFUK captain pick at 46%, with Haaland at 28% and Salah 10%.
And in true FFUKing fashion, the early kick delivered the first blow of the weekend for many as Son picked up a measly 2 points. Ouch.
Fast forward to Sunday, Haaland (0.00 XG) followed suit and delivered his own 2 points haul stuck firmly in the pocket of William Saliba. So, 74% FFUKers suffered the infamous ‘Captain Fail’ in GW8. Ouch! That’s 1 goal in the last 5 for Haaland, time to sell?
However, 10% were sitting smugly as their captain pick of the Egyptian King Salah, rewarded them with a whopping 30 points! Hardly rocket science to captain one the best players in FPL history, but in the age Haaland, it was seen as a differential. Oh and btw congrats to the 1% club (Charlie Moxon and Jack Rackley) who both captained Sterling for 32points!!
The FPL haulers for GW8:

The FFUK league’s average score of 49 in GW8 puts us FFUKers in the top 20.6% of our member leagues.. must do better!
Here are the FFUK top boys after GW 8:
Jason Beal (1st) and Mark Tarbox (2nd) take the top two spots with just one point separating them, and sitting 2,710 and 2,415 in the world respectively. Paul Bagshaw (3rd) sitting just 10 points adrift.
Our GW8 winners and losers; Big shout to Mark Leathem (8th) who hauled 84 points making himself the top scoring manager of the week. Paul Austin (53rd) rose 91 places in our league while David Isaac (160th) plummeted 75, ouch!

Our Cont of the week this week is James Bolton with a lowly score of 28. Sorry James , but you’ve gots to goooo!
And while many of us remaining Conts will laugh at James’ misfortunes / shit picks, a reminder that the Halloween Horror Show is around the corner in GW10. You’ve been warned!!
While we ‘enjoy’ the international break, here are a few questions we need to be asking ourselves:
- Why the FFUK did I sell Salah and how the FFUK do I get him back in? (DM me the correct answer to this please!)
- Will Rashford or Bruno ever be a reliable asset again?
- Is Sterling a trap or a shrewd differential?
- Maddison or Son, or both?!
- Is Haaland the Norwegian Michu? (Shout to Duncan!)
- Which club’s league form will suffer most due to European football commitments?
- How exactly will Mark Tarbox mess it up this year?!
This week’s song goes out to the 10%ers out there…Walking the GW8 walk!
See you on the FFUK chat x
Ameet (158th)
