GW9 REVIEW – Here we go for the 100th time

WELCOME TO THE GW9 REVIEW

So week 9 is done and dusted and unfortunately for you 90s dance aficionados, we are all out of big and little boxes (as well as Fish), so it falls to your resident rock / emo lover to review the week… and it’s a good one, just like our fantasy weeks, it’s time to Bleed it Out.

I, like the other 17 of us this week, was on a wildcard. It seemed that no matter how many drafts I made, how many times I was thinking Haaland, no Haaland or Son no Son it just felt like I had tried it all before, and “here I go for the hundredth time”. Each decision could be a miracle or a hand grenade!

So onto this weeks review and what a week it was… let’s just start right here with a special mention to those who got to the hundred club this week, all 15 of you.

Quite a feat for a single game week when you think about it, so a very special mention should also go to our King of the Game Week Steven Landsborough (147th) with an incredible score of 120pts.

Most of all our inglorious (league) leader Jason Beal (1st) who after his GW score of 106 is now 357th in the world, we probably should be asking him to review next week before it even starts!

So to speed this up, as it’s not a long song and our hearts aren’t quite what they were for continued thumping beats, I thought I would summarize the week rather than going game by game but instead by showing some key takeaways and crazy facts from the GW…

GW9 Most chances created

  • Fernandes – 5
  • Diaby – 4
  • Son – 4
  • Gibbs White – 4
  • Maddison – 4
  • Neto – 4
  • JWP – 4

GW 9 Big Chances

  • Wood – 3
  • Gordon – 2
  • Salah – 2
  • Maddison – 2
  • Mitoma – 2
  • Hee Chan – 2
  • Palmer – 2

How about some crazy stats, a hand grenade in every line for you (might be useful with the carnage that to come in the Halloween Horror show that is Conts GW10):

In the 63 minutes played by match winner Scott McTominay against Sheffield United, he completed just 8 passes. His replacement Christian Eriksen completed 24 passes in just 27 minutes! Clearly it really is just goals that win games.

Man City achieved a league record of 21 straight home wins against Brighton, where the Norwegian meat shield himself finally found his league scoring boots. Scoring with 1 of only two shots he managed in the game. That’s just 5 shots he has managed in his last 4 premier league games (with 2 goals), is it time to drop the meat shield, in favour of a more spicy Argentinian alternative dish who has managed to have 11 shots in that time?

Speaking of home wins… Villa have now gone 11 wins on the spin at Villa Park and next up are Luton (at home) who currently concede 2.11 goals per game on the road. Watkins, 5 goals and 8 assists, 70pts so far this season for captain anyone?

Although, Watkins is also one of the most overperforming players currently in FPL having gained 13 returns from an xGI of just 4.7

Since moving to the forward position in GW4 Son is now averaging 9.5pts per game… and I just transferred him out!

With his brace against Everton, Mohamed Salah has now outscored Erling Haaland for fantasy points in 4 of the last 5 gameweeks.

Julian Alvarez has now picked up 11 bonus points, only Trippier has more (12) – the 2023 bps magnet is still working for Trips.

Finally, Pedro Neto got his 7th assist of the season this week, that means he has now returned in 7 straight gameweeks, which is pretty darn consistent for a player in the bargain bucket section…

Ok, so before I leave you with hopes and fears for GW10 lets just go back to our little league for a second.

Filthy mouth no excuse

The Conts league is going to be blood bath this week with 13, yes Thirteen (Unlucky for literally all of them), evictions. And i can tell you know that this won’t bother Ameet Shah, as he decided to have a week off this week while everyone was scoring 100s his team The False 9 “It’s a rebuilding season” have left the Conts early. Sorry to see you go fella.

So, GW9 closed with 18 wildcards played making it 63% now of all FFUK players to have used the chip. 153 transfers were made and 15 of us made the 100 club. GW10 will be bigger, bloodier and I fully intend to bleed it out with the rest of you

Deadline is 18:30 today FFUKers.
