And that’s and a wrap for GW23… or Fo-den, if you like! (sorry, but it’s going to get worse!)
As many times already this season, those that reacted too quickly versus being patient seem to have been punished. Headline makers for GW23 were Ollie ‘Watto’ Watkins with a 18 point haul against a very doomed Sheffield United. The lad Watto has now 25 attacking FPL returns, 3 more than anyone else in the game.
However, us FFUKers sensed a haul for City against Brentford, we weren’t wrong but many backed the wrong horse. With Haaland the most transferred in player in the FFUK league (by 39%!), he was also captained by 44.2%, with his partner in crime KDB captained by 24.6%. However, it was the young prince, Phil Foden that stole the show with a hat trick against Brentford. His 20 points gave him the prize of top hauler in GW23, with a new Cavani-esque celebration taking aim at those who sold him. (FYI – Haaland is still yet to score against Brentford, the only team he’s faced and not scored against in the PL)
Other notable haulers were Cuhna (17) with a hat trick at Stamford Bridge, Garnacho (16) with a brace versus WHU, Richarlison (15) with a brace at Everton, and top defensive lad Moreno (15) against the blunt blades.

With Gordon off injured at HT and Solanke without a shot on target versus Forest, ‘captain fail’ was very much the GW23 vibe.

On the subject of injuries, Martinez (United), Konsa (Villa), Gordon (Newcastle), Areola (WHU), Olise (Palace) and Saka (Arsenal) all were subbed off with various knocks and strains. 🤕🩼
The FFUK movers and shakers:

Mark Tarbox remains top of the pops, keeping ahead of Jason Beal and Rob Scott. With Mark still sitting a very impressive 1,417th in the game, nice one mate! But watch out previous FFUK league winners Ossama Mouslimani (GW23 top boy) and the legend Paul Baker, are now in the top 20. 👀📈
Joseph Colliass receives the Del Boy wheeler dealer award for the week, with trades earning him 24 points, however Chris Whiteman picking up Triggers broom and losing 38 points with his trades. Oops!
The importance of captain picks.
Couple of interesting bits of data for the FFUK league below. The first graph shows the literally off the chart haul of captain points Marcus Holford has picked up, and if you cross reference Marcus and his friends versus our league table with captain and bench boost points removed, the crossover is pretty slim. My take way from this is that captain points are a vital added bonus for players but don’t replace the importance of having a well balanced team hauling a high level of base points. I’d be interested in your thoughts too.

In the Conts league the unlucky evictee this week was Justin McCarthy who goes after scoring just 42 points. Next week its our Valentines Day Massacre eviction event where 7 FFUKers go.
That is it for this week.
until next time
