WELCOME TO THE SEASON REVIEW – MORE MORE MORE
Massive thanks to everyone for playing once again this season, it’s been another long season and this game can drive us mad when things go wrong but its also a wonderful community and I personally know I wouldn’t enjoy football anywhere near as much as I do without fantasy and the people I’ve met through this league.
GW38 is always a lot to take in and a frenetic experience for fantasy managers. More team sheets to wait for, more fake leaks, more decisions, more deliberation over that last move. And then the deadline goes. Nothing more we can do but wait. Then more drama, more goals, more assists, more misses. But it doesn’t always go well. For everyone that flies up the league, someone drops down. The competition is relentless towards the end as any mistakes you make are exacerbated, there is less time to recover.

If your name is in bold in this article then you are a winner but before we start let’s take a very quick look back at the best scoring players of the season, these were the guys we really needed to rely on in our teams to bring us the points home. Not Salah. Not Haaland. Not Son.

1st. Cole Palmer. 244 points. He only started playing back in GW7 and cost a mere 4.9 at the time as he suffered an early season price drop from 5.0. 31 GWs and 33 goals involvements later he is the top scoring player in the game with 244 points and becomes one of the best ever FPL assets. Perhaps only Mahrez and Kane in their respective first seasons can get anywhere near. And as a Chelsea fan I shudder to think where we would be without all his goal involvements this season.
2nd. Phil Foden. 230 points. His breakout season, more minutes, goals and assists than ever before and he is now firmly one of the fixtures in the best side in the league. I think the biggest difference this season has been his ability to haul, repeatedly and when it matters. He certainly suffered from Pep roulette in the past but is now one of the first names on the team sheet and will be interesting to see how he is priced next season.
3rd. Ollie Watkins. 228 points. A player I have to admit I was wrong about, and I had to admit it pretty quickly this season otherwise I would have been left behind. GW7 was also when Watkins came alive with a 23 point haul and he has been pretty consistent in helping villa get 4th ever since.
How many of this trio do you plan to have in your GW1 squad next season?
NOW IT’S PRIZE TIME
HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to the new, 2 time FFUK Champion Paul Baker (1st) with a perfectly timed run to the top he pipped all his rivals and wins this incredibly competitive mini league again, his last league win came back in 2016 where he finished with an overall rank of 6974 but this year he beat that finishing 5203rd in the world. Incredible effort Bakes and Congratulations once again. You are the FFUKer to beat next season for sure.
Not far behind was our runner up Sean Colohan (2nd) who has been lurking in the upper echelons for most of the season and always seems to finish strong. Well played Coolers for another excellent season.
Ben Pycz (3rd) takes third spot, another one with a very well timed run of 10 green arrows to end the season. Its not how you start its how you finish!
Peter Brooks (4th) was another making big moves on the final day (top scorer in the top 50 for GW38 with 89 pts) and one I have been almost neck and neck with for what seems like weeks, well done on a very strong finish!
Shaun Bremner (5th) has been there or thereabouts for a while now but just suffered a slight red arrow on the final day but still an excellent season overall.
Thomas Hill (6th) also recorded a red arrow on the final day but shouldn’t let that disappoint from a very good season.
Our recently crowned King Cont David Isaac (7th) also finished well in the league and will be rightly proud of his big double win.
Lewis Bell (8th) finished inside the top 10 and also won the FFUK Cup by a comfortable margin in the end so should be very happy with his season. Jonty Cooke (163rd) finished runner up in the Cup.
Frankie Watson (9th) was another one with a good final few weeks with no red arrows since GW31.
In 10th position we find Mark Tarbox (10th), who was the front runner for a long part of this season but just ran out of steam in the final few weeks and the chasing pack took him down, it was a tough finish for Mark but its been a good effort overall and like his beloved Arsenal he will hope for that elusive win next time round.
We also give out prizes to the rest of the top 20, I finished 11th which I am very happy with as the standard in this mini league gets better and better each year that passes. I know finishing anywhere in the top 20 of FFUK will win most other leagues so congratulations to the rest of the top 20 including Damien O’Neill (12th), Vikram Marwaha (13th, Connor Parkes (14th), Jonathan Morgan (15th), Jason Beal (16th) – Bealer was another who had such a good season but unfortunately fell away at the end, James Felton (17th), Will Johnson (18th), last season’s league winner John Harper (19th) and last but not least Brendan Ryan (20th).
We also award best GW score prizes, four of them and please find below the best scores from this season

Exciting news – if you haven’t heard already, we have a Euros tournament starting soon and that of course means a FFUK mini league in the official game to keep us entertained.
