THe cups 2022/23

DEAR FFUKERS.

WELCOME TO THE CUPS.

Dear FFUKers

If it gives us great pleasure to announce the 2022/23 Cups!

Firstly, a big thank you to Paul Baker who has done some phenomenal hard work in recent seasons to make the cups exciting and dynamic, we all had lots of fun along the way.

Paul’s taking a seat back in the box this season, which means Steve and I (The Cronin Brothers) come down to the pitch, make sure the lines are good, get the balls ready, and then pull them out for you.

Something like that anyway.

It’s probably easier if I just explain how the Cups will work.

The FFUK Cup

Our classic cup returns in an almost unaltered state this season, though as we will see with other elements of the game, a change has been made to account for the World Cup break in November/December.

The Cup rounds look like this:

As you can see from the above, we are already being seeded.

Fixtures for the First Round (and until the Fourth Round) will run

Seed 1 vs Seed 256

Seed 2 vs Seed 255

Seed 3 vs Seed 254, and so on.

The First Round will include 27 byes meaning that the top 27 players in August will get a free ticket to the Second Round. The Fifth Round, Quarters and Semi Finals will have Live Draws, this scheduling being due to the short turn around between game months in the early stages of the season.

Prizes will be awarded to the Winner, Runner Up, and Semi Finalists, as you can see on our newly updated Prizes post.

We will give fixture updates on the Cups with regular posts on the homepage of this website.

To find your opposition within the game, from the League view, Select Phase at the top of screen to set the relevant month, and scroll the players to find them.

For example, you can see the top eight players in August so far in this image, with select phase highlighted.

For this prize the scores on the board will be taken as final, which means hits are registered as normal, except in the first gameweek of each ‘game month’ (a fun quirk of the game). In the event of a draw, then the following tie-breaks will be applied until a winner is found:

  • Most goals scored in the Gameweek
  • Fewest goals conceded in the Gameweek
  • Highest Bench Score
  • Virtual coin toss

Easy as that!

The FFUK League Cup

Following last season’s introduction of the in-game League Cup, this late season extravaganza will be perfect as we use our final chips amid double gameweeks and general who’s going to win the league carnage.

This Cup is a weekly game and starts late in the season, timed for a final between two teams in GW38, and therefore is scheduled to start in GW31. Like our own cup, 27 teams will be given byes in the First Round, and we will give prizes to the Winner, Runner Up and Semi Finalists.

Please note that transfer hits will count in the League Cup.

And that in a nutshell, is this season’s Cups schedule. We bloody love the Cups here at FFUK, and we hope you enjoy them!
