GW38 REVIEW – THIS IS HOW WE DO IT (including prizes)

WELCOME TO THE GW38 REVIEW – THIS IS HOW WE DO IT

The final review of the season is finally upon us. This is how we do it. This season has felt longer than any other I can remember with a world cup sandwiched in the middle. Congratulations to everyone for making it through. Lets do a quick review of the final GW before we move on to the important matter of prizes.

On Sunday all 10 games kicked off at the same time, its a frenetic time for fantasy managers and can be particularly stressful knowing everything from this season hinges on one final day of action. Leaks are abundant now and a part of this game (although I wish they weren’t) many of us were standing around waiting for news that could help guide our decisions, having to wade through the all the fake news and rumours. Lets see who came out the other side in good fettle.

GW38 TEAM OF THE WEEK

How many of these guys did you own?

If you transferred one of them in then you did great. If you removed one then less so. I can’t imagine too many FFUKers were on that midfield trio!

But a certain Harry Kane (16) was very popular, especially once news of Haaland not starting came through.

How did this affect the FFUK league?

Top scorer in the final gw was Vikram Marwaha with 85 points scored. With Kane (16 x 2) captain and a supporting cast of Watkins (9), Olise (6), DDG (7) could he take top spot from John Harper who must have thought he had a safe cushion going into the last day? Find out later when we get to the prizes.

MOTM for May ended up going to Clayton Deakin but it was close. So close in fact that Janine Goodwin was tied on 321 points, but by virtue of his overall rank Clayton takes the final MOTM of the season.

Ok its the moment you have all been waiting for, lets confirm the prize winners. This is how we do it.

THE FFUK LEAGUE

THE FINAL TOP 20

Congratulations to John Harper (1st), the new FFUK Champion 2022/23, winning the biggest prize and adulation from all of us for years to come. John had built a nice little buffer ahead of the final GW but in this game you can never think its over until it really is. Once again huge congratulations on your win!

Vikram Marwaha (2nd) ran him closest and outscored him by 29 points this week but it wasn’t enough in the end.

Ray Flynn (3rd) dropped a place on final day but it was still a cracking finish for him.

Brendan Ryan (4th) and Rob Pitt (5th) were right up there all season and hung on til the end. A top 5 finish in this league is not to be sniffed at.

I wont go through the whole top 20, you can see it in all its glory above but all of them get prizes. This is where you want to be at the end so congratulations to all of the top 20!

MANAGER OF THE MONTH (MOTM)

Each and every month the highest scoring FFUKer won £50. Congratulations to Jamie Cooper, Andrew Clarke, David Harrison, Stephen Fielden, Nitin Patel, Darren McKeown, Mark Storrar, John Harper and Clayton Deakin who all picked up a MOTM prize this season.

BEST GW SCORE

This season we offered 5 best GW score prizes, more than ever before, below are the 5 winners.

  1. Jason Beal 151 points (GW29)
  2. John Harper 149 points (GW34)
  3. Nitin Patel 146 points (GW36)
  4. Darren McKeown 137 points (GW25)
  5. Brendan Ryan and David Harrison, shared, 128 points (GW9)

THE FFUK CUP

In our “Big” cup the final was played throughout the final month between Ashley Mather and John Stevens with Ashley winning with his May score of 258 beating John’s 237. Congratulations to Ashley and commiserations to John but you both win prizes as do the unlucky semi finalists, Kevin Preston and Ossama Mouslimani.

THE FPL CUP (New this season)

This replaced the previous league cup and used the official league cup provided by the game site, this started in GW31 and was played out week by week. The final was between Mark Storrar and Ian Cayley with Ian winning the final by just 4 points in the end. Congrats to Mark, commiserations to Ian but you both win prizes as do the semi runners up, Joseph Colliass and Chris Smith.

For a run down of all the exact amounts won keep reading but first lets discover who won our side games (please note these are separate entry fees but open to all in the FFUK league)

THE CONTS MINI LEAGUE

This was was especially brutal this season but in the end one man rose above every other FFUKer and claimed his crown pipping Don MacAulay back in GW37. The 2022/23 King Cont is Adam Aloof. Adam wins a whopping cash prize plus a donation to Football beyond borders and becomes the man to beat next season.

H2H Divisions

This was something new this season and we think it worked quite well. Everyone involved this time round will be offered the chance to play again next season, and if there is demand we will open up a 4th league. We have some prizes to announce (1st £100, 2nd £60, 3rd £30) and excitingly we can also confirm the promotion and relegation for each league.

  • 1st Chris Galloway (Champion)
  • 2nd Ameet Shah (Runner up)
  • 3rd Tina Whitehouse
  • 17th Tim McEwan (Relegated)
  • 18th Paul Baker (Relegated)
  • 19th Harvey Smith (Relegated)

Finally, thanks to everyone for getting involved with this season. Its been a long one but we really appreciate all the help we get. I definitely need to give a shout out to my right hand man Pete Cronin for all his advice and assistance, and not forgetting his brother Steve who is the man for all the captain stats and Conts updates, once again incredible performance this season. Also a big shout out to the rest of the admin crew for coming forward whenever required to help with reviews and everything else behind the scenes. You are all FFUKing legends.

Now go and relax, enjoy some time away from the game, recharge those batteries because it wont be long until we go again, even bigger, even better.

Cheers

Chris (Men of Steele 10th)
