GW31 Review- hat-trick heaven

Welcome FFUKers to the GW31 review where it was hat-trick heaven for England’s golden boys, Phil Foden and Cole Palmer. I don’t know about you but Cole Palmer has ruined my entire week after I made the silly decision to pick Declan Rice over him in hopes of some good points from set pieces but hindsight is a beautiful thing i guess.

A high scoring week for some of us (not me), with your top scorers being Cole Palmer and Phil Foden (20 points), obviously. Alejandro Garnacho also makes it into the team of the week scoring two goals against Chelsea.

Team of the Week:

The week started with another unfortunate result for Newcastle at Goodison park , after being 1-0 up due to Alexander Isak until the 88th minute where Everton got a last minute penalty securing a draw. Nottingham Forest thrash Fulham 3-1 with all 3 goals in the first half. Bournemouth beat Crystal Palace 1-0 with a goal from Justin Kluivert and Solanke only scoring 2 points and it was 1-1 for both Burnley v Wolves and West Ham v Tottenham.

Arsenal were without Saka this week as they faced Luton Town. A goal from Odegaard and an own goal from Hashioka made it 2-0 at Kenilworth Road. But all eyes were on the boy from Stockport against Aston Villa. Early goals from Rodri and Duran had it 1-1 just before half time but Foden was the man to save the day. With Pep keeping Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne on the bench, City still secured a very comfortable win. Brentford V Brighton ended 0-0.

Returning to the top of the table, Liverpool beat Sheffield United 3-1 at Anfield. A crazy goal from Darwin Nunez after a mistake from the keeper put them 1-0 at half time, it was only going to be Nunez scoring a goal like that. An own goal from Conor Bradley brought it level but it was Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo that secured the Reds the win. An absolute belter of a goal from Mac Allister who has been on top form recently, will he be making his way into any of your teams? A quiet game for Salah who scored one lonesome point so for the 71% of us who captained him it was a rough game and Chris can relax after his opponents triple captain move didn’t pay off.

After Man United’s defeat at Stamford Bridge, Cole Palmer is the talk of the town. A close first half after Conor Gallaghers early goal followed by a Cole Palmer penalty, United clawed back after goals from Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes. Garnacho scored a second and United were 3-2 up at 90 minutes. Palmer then not only ruined United’s dreams but my FFUK Cup dreams scoring twice in stoppage time. Palmer is going to be my transfer in for GW32, 100%.

  • Mark Tarbox (1st) extends his lead at the top with Jason Bealer (2nd) and John Harper (3rd) hoping to close in.
  • Your top scorers of the week are Mark Turnbull and Phillip Dewsnap with 92 points.
  • Salah was the most popular captain this week with 158 (78%) of us FFUKers having to settle for 2 points

Things over in the CONTS league are getting tight with only seven remaning. This week it was Ashley Mather who said goodbye after getting 44 points. From a biased point of view, I am rooting for Simon Chatten who is willing to split the prize money but anything can happen over these next few weeks.

That’s all from me,

Ella Chatten (Allison Wonderland, 172nd)
