It was a strange week for bonuses. In a week with relatively few goals, seven goalscorers earned 0 bonus points, Cahill and Barkley both scored but were in defeated sides. Lamela and Johnson both scored in high scoring games (Pantillimon beat Johnson to the bonus with his 8 saves), Mane scored a crucial equaliser but then got sent off. Vardy scored the winning goal but got a yellow card too and Deeney got nothing for his part in Watford’s 0-2 away win at Stoke.
And that’s not even starting on assists, Ighalo got 2 assists and no bonus (he also earned a yellow card though).
Agbonlahor, Naughton, Mahrez, McLean, Cresswell, Payet, Ozil, Deulofeu, Kaboul, M’Vila, Daniels, Alderwiereld, Rose, Eriksen and Ramirez actually all got assists but no bonus. That’s 15 players.
The only players who did get assists and bonus were Cazorla, Milner and Zouma, Fletcher got just one bonus point even though he scored and got an assist.
Ultimately, of 63 bonus points awarded at the weekend only 12 were earned by forwards, 23 points went to the midfielders and 28 to defenders and keepers.
Triple Watford would have done well though…
