I was away in Germany over the weekend and consequently missed all of the football. I caught a bit of the Bundesliga so my fantasy Bundesliga team is right up to date, problem is you can only have 3 Bayern players!
Back in the familiar surroundings of the Premier League, I am now catching up with MOTD 1 & 2. I decided not to play any transfers last week so I have 2FT this week. I feared I might have a low scoring week, and unfortunately I was right. Fortunately for me it was a low scoring week for everyone. In fact the average score across the whole game was just 42 points. The only big points scorer was Harry Kane who got back to something like last season’s form with a hat-trick at Bournemouth. Those that kept faith with him were well and truly rewarded and off the back of this the England international is now one of the hottest players in the game ahead of a delicious home game on Monday Night Football against a poor Aston Villa side.
Only five players in the whole FFUK league scored over 60 points, of them, none were in the Top Fifty last week! And only 16 players in the league scored over 50 points. None of these were in the Top 10 and only one was in the Top 20 – Paul Baker, who rose from joint 18th to 8th place.
So how did you get on? Did you hang on to your place on Page 1? Well here it is in all its beauty after a less than spectacular GW10.
There is a Liverpool fan at the top of the FFUK league but it isn’t James Page Chatton (2nd) as he has lost the top spot, his 39 points wasn’t brilliant but he had 20 points on his bench, ouch! Congratulations to Duncan Hannigan (1st), the new leader can thank his trusty trio of Vardy, Payet & Mahrez for getting his attacking points. The top 2 both have the same 4 man midfield of the moment with Sanchez, KDB, Mahrez and Payet.
Regulars towards the top of the table Vivaek Venkat (3rd) and Lester Deeble (4th) are hot on their heels and with Stan Packham (5th) also showing strong recent form it is getting very tight at the top.
Spare a thought for Steven Powton (18th) who only managed 25 points and Alastair McNeil (35th) with 28 points as other than Jamie Vardy the rest of their teams didnt really turn up.
On the other side of the coin Stan Maniak (46th) was the top scorer on Page 1 with 65 points. Despite Alexis blanking as his captain he was thankful to the north London duo of Harry Kane & Laurent Koscielny for the bulk of his points. The only 2 players in the whole league to beat that score were Duncan Galloway (53rd) who got 68 points with his bench boost and Gregg Dampier (99th) who had Kane (c) as well as a host of clean sheets.
Huge respect to Sam Blakey (34th) who is on Page 1 for the first time this season after going with Harry Kane as his captain. Must have been doubly special as he is a Spurs fan too. He can now sit back and enjoy the inevitable price increases for his main man.
Pete wants to remind everyone that GW11 sees the final week of qualification for the cups. Will you be in the top 64 places for October for the first round draw? Failing that make sure you are 65-96 for a place in the Challenge Cup! We will be doing the first round draw for the FFUK Cup next week, watch out for it!
