Welcome to the GW37 REVIEW – OH NO
It’s the penultimate review of the season and it certainly didn’t exactly go to plan. For most of us anyway. Hence the theme tune this week. Pharaohe Monch, Nate Dogg and Mos Def combine for this hip hop classic which pretty much sums up my GW… OH NO.
This season’s playlist has been updated and can be found HERE. Just one more to add to this in GW38!
First up it’s this week’s Dream Team from @OfficialFPL. How many of these guys did you own?

Player of the week was a close contest but David Luiz (15) wins the honour after his goal, clean sheet and max bonus in the 3-0 win vs Watford. His Team-mate Hazard (11) also features after his 2 assists and bonus.

The only other pair of players were from West Ham, Arnie (13) and Fredericks (14) rewarded their owners with points but at this stage of the season who has West Ham players in their side?
Everywhere else it was single players from teams. Up top Rondon (11) continued his excellent form with a goal, assist and max bonus whilst in midfield old favourite Andros Townsend (13) rolled back the years meanwhile Scott McTominay (9) showed Utd fans have what they have got to look forward to (more draws with teams like Huddersfield probably).
At the back Bournemouth’s Ake (14) and Everton’s Coleman (14) both went big whilst Vincent Kompany (13) provided one of the moments of the season with his winning goal.
Jonas Lossl (9) kept it tight at the back for his owners. Not many popular picks there then. Oh No.
How did all this affect the FFUK league?

Allan Tomkins (1st) extends his lead at the top to 18 points from Jordan Davison (2nd). This is not insurmountable. Eyes are well and truly on the prize for those at the top as the rest of us look longingly up to you guys. You have smashed it this season but you still need to finish it off. No-one remembers who finished 11th.
2013 FFUK Champion Allan bagged 46 points just below the overall average of 48 but still solid in a week where there were some disasters. Only 3 ffukers in the top 10 outscored him. Best in the top 10 was 57 achieved by Nick Johns (3rd) and Sean Colohan (6th).
However our former leader has most certainly lost his way recently. Lawrence Sprigings (12th) slides further from the top after an abysmal 22 points scored. Captain Pogba (2 x 2) wasnt great but elsewhere its a tale of woe from the red card shown to Son (-2) and a bunch of 2’s almost everywhere else. I think your form coincides with me giving you a nickname of The Sprig so for that I am sorry, still a very good debut season in the FFUK league all things considered.
It wasn’t OH NO for everyone though. In fact one man almost found the hallowed ground of the 100 club. But not quite. Still when everyone else is scrambling around for points this was a great time to score big. Congratulations to Glenn Johnson (110th) for his 99 points. Way ahead of everyone else this week. Captain Salah (2 x 7) was a solid start. Rondon (11), Auba (8), Fraser (9) and his defence of Doherty (12), VVD (8), Laporte (12) and TAA (10) did the rest.
Best scorer in the upper echelons goes to Jim Wheat (23rd) with 74 scored. The bulk of these points coming from captain Hazard (11 x 2). By far the most successful of the popular captain picks. As you can see by Statto’s image belown just 13 FFUKers gave Haz the armband. 24 FFUKers went with Salah (7 x 2) whilst just 8 went with Auba (8 x 2), as the only other captains worth talking about. Oh No is the polite phrase for the unlucky trio who entrusted Son (-2 x 2) with the captaincy. The 4 who laid down their TC chips on Aguero (2 x 3) probably weren’t best pleased either.
After all that we have our final eviction of the season which means we can crown our CONTS champion for 2019!

We know that Mark Leathem finished in 3rd place last week but we need to find out who is next to be evicted and therefore who is left as the King Cont for this season out of John Harper and Robert Browne…
Drum roll please!
In the end there were just 7 points in it. John managed 52 points, just above average, but unfortunately for him Robert scored 59 and with that is crowned KING CONT for this season!
FFUK – THE CONTS: Final Standings
1st. KING CONT – ROBERT BROWNE £150
2nd. John Harper £75
3rd. Mark Leathem £35
All prizes paid out after end of season!

After all that excitement it is now evident that we are on the cusp of something special. Everything will be decided this weekend. GW38 is the climax we have all been building towards. The next review will be a bumper and will confirm all the prize winners for the season – Top 10, MOTM, Best GW Score, Cup winners and losers, Conts and H2H will all be decided. Good luck to everyone for the final GW of the season.
Side bets will most certainly be decided too. I have one week left to prevent Peter Cronin (27th) or Neil Stewart (26th) overtaking me. With just an 8 point lead over both of them I can’t afford to be complacent. Couldn’t be much closer. I know all too well that things can change very quickly in this game and until the final whistle goes I wont take anything for granted. No more Chris Smalling moments please!
Before you go have you let us know yet if you can attend the FFUK END OF SEASON DO this season on Saturday 15th June. We have now booked and paid for the pitch. And we only have about 8 persons signed up at the moment. Clearly we need more. JOIN US!
As always thanks for reading and hope you are all set for a final push. Next time you read this review it will all be over for another season. We are looking forward to a bit of time off over the summer before we go again, but if you have any suggestions for next season please let us know via the FFUK suggestion box here and we will listen to your ideas before we decide anything! Any comments or suggestions you have will be gratefully received by both Pete and myself.
Remember to look after yourself and each FFUKer!
Cheers
Chris
