GW20 Review – I owe you nothing

WECLOME TO THE GW20 REVIEW – I OWE YOU NOTHING

Well FFUKers, hope you had a great Christmas and are enjoying the last of the leftover meats! Its my pleasure to be writing the last review of 2021. “Happy New Year” everyone.

I was struggling for inspiration to apply a song to this weeks review so thought I would go back to my Eighties childhood. I was thinking; “disappointment, over expectation, frustration, under achievement”…and that was just my School report! The devastation of a Salah blank with a missed penalty destroyed over 50% of us (137 teams), but then I realised – Salah doesn’t owe me anything, he doesn’t owe you nothing… I then thought; “Bros…I owe you nothing!”, there is “Shirley” no way that any FFUKer would have the balls to do a Bros song for review either.

I’ll watch you crumble, like a very old wall ooh
And I’ll see you stranded yeah
You took me for a fool ooh
I’ll have my revenge ooh, ooh, yeah,

Cause I owe you nothing, nothing at all
I owe you nothing, nothing at all
I owe you nothing, nothing, nothing at all
Nothing, nothing at all, all, no

Over the last weeks we have been hit by a new game, step aside “Pep Roulette” and step up “Fixture Roulette”! Covid meant that planned fixtures were no longer assured so a new conundrum entered the FFUK brain leaving us wondering how many Covid cases would be “enough” for a postponement. This week (GW20) fixtures looked tasty but Leeds United v Aston Villa, Arsenal v Wolverhampton Wanderers & Everton Newcastle all fell foul leaving many team owners wondering if they would be able to field 11 players without a hit. 6 Wildcards were played (perhaps because they could) and also 17 Free Hits were used. Scores were naturally low with Salah dominating the arm band but still some decent scores were posted despite the late cancellations and hits played.

KINGS OF GW20

Viera’s Palace kicked off the post Xmas Gameweek with a stomping win over Norwich (3-0) with Edouard (6.3M) cleaning up with 14 points (a goal and a brace of assists). Tyrick Mitchell (£4.5M) picked up 8 points.

Leicester’s unexpected 1-0 win against the “Mighty Reds” of Liverpool was a shock to many of us – especially Jurgen who was clearly devastated by the dropped points. Schmeichel picked up a whopping 15 points with a clean sheet, penalty save and maximum bonus. Amartey (just £3.8M) was the pick of the defenders with 8 points.

Saints last minute goal against Spurs left “World class” Harry Kane (£12.2) reeling after netting once again to give him back to back goals in successive game week’s. Is Kane the obvious choice to replace the departing Mo Salah.

Watford were stung 1-4 by a vibrant West Ham who are playing free flowing, crowd pleasing football. David Moyes really showing what he can do given a bit of time. Bowen (£6.6M) scored 14 points this week. He’s a player that I have never owned but am now giving serious thought after his 7th Assist of the season.

Chelsea missed the opportunity to put daylight between them and Liverpool with a disappointing last minute equaliser from Danny Welbeck. Reece James owners were left frustrated by his early withdrawal and solitary point – once again he owes you nothing!

City took 3 points from a battling Brentford thanks to a Foden (£8.1M) goal and 11 point haul.

Man Utd were the last team to play this GW and a thrilling encounter was expected at Old Trafford with “under fire” Ronaldo looking to silence his critics with a goal from one of his thousand shots per game. He didn’t disappoint and rewarded those managers who crept away from Salah and went with the CR7 (12.5M) who claimed 12 points with a goal, assist and max bonus. McTominay (£5.4) picked up his first goal since jumpers for goalposts – age 12, and an assist to reach 12 gameweek points.

FFUK TOP 20 AT THE END OF 2021

Well done to Kevin Flynn (1st) who leapfrogs Brendan Ryan (2nd) to lead the league in to 2022. Shaftesbury’s own Dan “Bruno Fernandes” Hardwick is in third place and living the FFUKing dream.

Best score of the week was Chris Norman (119th) with an unbelievable 94 points (he even had two blanks with Walker and Gallagher) so only 9 played – Amazing score Sir!

Manager of the month for December is our very own Chairman Pete “the Stalker” Cronin (5th) with a super 399 points, just beating Neil Stewart who amassed 392.

This week we say goodbye to four more Conts – Matthew Silley, Harvey Smith and Donny Mac as we complete the 12 conts of xmas . It was a tie for the fourth Cont to be evicted (Stu Allen, big Dunc Hannigan and Mr Cup himself Bakes) – Stu Allen loses out on overall rank – Scenes…Unbelievable Jeff!

Bakes will update the cup results when he can so keep an eye on the Whatsapp/Facebook groups or the cup pages on this website

Best of luck for GW21 – get those transfer/wildcards and chips played – and best of luck for 2022 Ffukers!
