Boa tarde FFUKers, bem vindo a GW34 Review – SAMBA
Short turn around this week gents so i am going to crack on, a distinctly Brazilian feel to this one with the 3 amigos doing the business at the weekend.
Eddie had a dream … not quite on minus 17, however my word what a job he is doing at Newcastle. Helped in no no small part by the arrival of Joelinton (13) as an actual player and the new Talisman of Tyneside Bruno Guimaraes (9). With the former bagging a brace and the latter netting his 3rd in as many games the Magpies were looking imperious as they swatted the Canaries at Carrow Road, Dean Smith bemoaning the fact his team played well until they conceded!! #specsavers
Meanwhile as the Black and White SAMBA boys went through the gears another of their countrymen was doing his best to keep them in the shade. Take a bow G. Jesus (24), he managed to answer the prayers of City fans with a 4 goal spectacular at the Etihad picking up both the match ball an max bonus for patient owners in the process!! City continuing to march towards the title with a 5-1 thumping of Watford. Many managers bemoaning the loss of the clean sheet with a number of City defensive double ups out there #Peproulette.
In the lunchtime Kick Off Arsenal took Utd apart much to the delight of their fans, Saka (13) looking sensational again, however with a knock forcing him off before the end a number of managers will be sweating on his fitness this weekend, myself included! Now what is going on with Bruno (1) … Ronaldo (16) scoring for fun at the moment, upsteps Bruno for a Pen, hits the post costing owners 3 points and most likely costing CR7 owners 4!! A 3-1 win for the Gunners was probably a fair result based upon the lacklustre way Utd seem to go about their business these days! ten Hag definitely has his work cut out at Old Trafford!
Leicester Villa and Brentford Spurs all managed to bore the life out of supporters with 0-0 draws galore as we approach the business end of the season, is Stevie Gs honeymoon period over? I will leave it to Jimmy D down under to mull that one over!
A great game at the Amex saw Brighton go 2 up against the Saints only for the best dead ball striker in the league to peg them back, J Ward-Prowse (15) possesses nothing less than a wand of a right foot, seemingly able to put the ball wherever he likes. He must give keepers up and down the country sleepless nights! Playing out an enjoyable Desmond for the fans.
At the Bridge Jorginho (3) had a shocker looking rather silly with an 87th min penalty miss after Dawson (-1) was sent off. His blushes spared as the inconsistent Pulisic (7) came off the bench to take the spoils in the 90th min, Chelsea 1 West Ham 0.
The final match of the week saw the DGWs come out to play, a tight 1-1 draw between Utd and Chelsea saw Ronaldo (16) do what he does slotting home a wonderful strike. he joined the EPL 100 club with his strike against Arsenal, what a career! This was after Chelsea had taken the lead a couple of minutes earlier through Alonso (19), rewarding managers with a haul to enter Kings of the Gameweek.
Kings of the Gameweek
Some top top performances this week, with Robbo (15) picking up a goal and a cleanie for Liverpool to cement his place as one of the best wingbacks in the world. The trio of SAMBA stars also taking up their places after a fantastic weekend! I actually managed to have 4 of these in my squad this week, #crafty!
FFUK Top 20
The top 20 continues to evolve with the cream of Fantasy Football talent rising to the top. Notably our glorious leader Chris G (19th) has entered back into the top 20 with a great return of 91 points, lovely use of the WC!! With 2 of the admin crew now moving through the gears and entering the top 10 in the shape of James S (9th) and Statto Steve C (10th). At the very top of the pile Ashley Mather (1st) has moved into pole position, however with only 22 points separating the top 5 i am sure there are many more twists and turns to come as we now turn into the home straight.
Ally Edwards (202nd) joined esteemed company with the top score of the GW (for the 2nd week in a row!), with an excellent 102 points. A CR7 captaincy choice really paying off! Congratulations once again.
With only 5 managers left in the Glorious CONTS knockout competition the pressure is really on to avoid the trapdoor. Unfortunately this week was a bridge to far for Justin M scoring 47 points, he has, as is customary, been unceremoniously dumped from the CONTS league.
Only 4 players remain in the toughest of challenges, good luck to Neil S, Joseph C, Neil G and Stato Steve!!!
Gents this season has been a blast, very, very tough to negotiate. The standard in this league truly is epic, congratulations to you all on another great season and good luck in the home straight!!
Adeus amigos, Roni Friel (Southbourne Celtic 49th)
